Helllllo there I'm Amy :) I am a graduate with a 2:1 degree in Stop Motion animation. My main specialty is creating characters and environments using fabric such as felt. This blog is just a place for me to share some of my work. I have a long way to go still but, I'm determined to improve my skills and someday make a living out of something I'm passionate about :) I hope you all enjoy viewing my blog and if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I don't bite :)

Making a mossy rock and a crab :)

To make a start on the props for my set, I decided to make a rock out of Sculpey for my armature to sit on while animating. There is a piece of K & S at the top so it slots into the armature so it stays in one position. Once the Sculpey had been baked, I painted the rock with acrylics.

Also, during my animation, my character will be sitting on this rock . To create the mossy effect on the rock, I used green and blue acrylic paint and dabbed the colours on with a sponge. I used this method because I believed I wouldn’t get as many brush strokes and it would make the rock look more authentic as a prop.

Another prop I needed to make was a crab because it would be the main source of interaction during the animation. I made the crab out of orange Sculpey and shaped it the way I wanted.
