I also had a one part
mould for the scales of my character. I did the same as the two part mould.
Painted in single layers of latex inside the mould and then letting them dry.
When the final layer was dry, I was able to pull out the piece of latex ready
to stick it on to the tail of my armature. As I continued to make
more latex scales, I attached them to the tail with contact adhesive. I also
painted on top of the latex scales for a bit more extra detail.
